I am currently being treated by my nurse practioner @ my primary care doctor. I am not hapy with the care I have been receiving. It took them several weeks to give me my blood test results. I am also still experiencing horrible symptoms after  being on 25 mcg of synthroid .  My blood test were repeated four weeks after initial therapy was started. She stated my levels were normal now and to keep my dosage same. . I feel no better and it's two months into treatment! I also had to research Hashimotos on my own. She never discussed my levels or educated me on the disease. She just diagnosed and prescirbed. When I asked if there was anything I could do to help control the disease she said no just take the meds. I feel I should see an  endocrinologist since this has affected my life so much. I've had very severe symptoms.....depression, anxiety, weight gain, extreme coldness, excessive sleeping, extreme fatigue, hair falling out, gastro symptoms , elevated cholesterol & chest pains so bad I had a heart catherization done.
I am hoping someone out there can recommend a really good endocrinologist. I feel that usually is the best way to find a good doctor.

Hi,

I'm so sorry it's taken so long to reply. I have been out of town. Unfortunately, you might not get much better help from an Endo. I found you need to troubleshoot yourself first, and then find a good natural doctor or chiropractor that works with autoimmune diseases. Here's my article on how to troubleshoot first:

http://www.ehow.com/how_2080117_live-better-hashimotos-thyroiditis.html

Some of these tips might help your current symptoms.

Then you must decide which natural route you want to explore. The traditional docs don't really have any answers for Hashimoto's - not because they don't care, but because they are behind in the research. The natural docs seem to have more freedom to research this complicated disease. The roots can be partly emotional too, so if you are aware of stress in your life (besides the disease), please consider exploring EFT as a good place to start. It can really help physical problems if they have an emotional root:

Take it from me, don't ignore this possible link. I believe it is significant.

Here's another message board focusing on EFT for emotional healing and autoimmune disease that you might be interested in:

You might think about going to a natural food store and see if they have any recommendations for a good natural doctor that deals with autoimmune disease. That is the key. Make sure they have good references.

I hope this has helped. There is also NAET which helps eliminate allergies that might be causing you some of your symptoms. They can evaluate the situation on the first visit but NAET take quite a commitment and many visits usually to see overall results. You can research it from www.naet.com

Let us know how you are doing.
