HI Gerri,

First I want to thank you for all your posts this week on the board. They have been very informative and helpful. Secondly, I am so excited that you are still moving into your marathon with a positive attitude! I will be looking forward to your progress as you move closer to the BIG day!

Remember to stay calm as you think of this day and do your stress reducing techniques as you get closer. Sometimes a rise in stress can cause us to hold on to extra weight. You might want to plan a special time per day for yourself if you can, that concentrates meditation or just relaxation to compensate for the extra thought you are giving to the marathon.

We will be rooting for you from here in California. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the cheering squad Mo, and sorry for such a late reponse.  I completed the 1/2 Marathon at Philadelphia with Team Prevention on November 18th. It was great, and I would encourage anyone who thinks they want to try for something like this to go for it. It's a challenge, but when you prepare for it over a period of time, you build up your endurance level, and are ready to go on race day. There were people out there of all ages, shapes and sizes, and I don't know of anyone who didn't finish. Here is a link for anyone who wants to watch the video.

It was simply a totally, 100%, completely, awesome experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone who thinks they want to do it. My next 1/2 marathon will be on May 4th in Long Branch, NJ. Other than that, I waiting for Prevention to announce their schedule for the rest of 2008 in the March issue. I have a couple of others in mind, which aren't local, and will probably jump at them if the "Team" will be there.

Best to all,
Gerri
