1. How long have you had Hashimotos? I believe that I had the onset of hashimoto's (raging hyperthyroidism) in 2005. I was offically diagnosed in sept 2008

2. What are you doing for treatment? Currently, I am taking levothyroxine and searching for a doctor who actually knows how to treat hashi's...wish me luck hahah

3. Are you satisfied with the progress or do you feel you need to find a better combination of treatment? I am definately not satisfied. I am only 29 and feel terrible. That is why I begged my GP for a new endocrinologist.

4. Have you tried any successful diets (whether for losing weight or controlling symptoms). Not quite yet, although I am up for suggestions. The diatician at work told me that the main factor in thyriod diets is fat intake.

5. Tell us anything else about yourself - age, location, etc. that you would like to share. I am married and trying to have kids. Hopefully my fertility has not been compromised by this disease. We live in oklahoma.

Furthermore, I am so delighted to find a page like this one. Support groups are a wonderful thing. It is really hard to be told that you have an eating disorder or are a hypochondriac. I know I am not the only one!
Thank so much! Geeta

Hello Geeta,

Welcome to our board. Please take some time to "look around" my main website (Home tab on top of this forum) and my blog. You may find more information there that might help you on your journey.

You mentioned fat in the diet... you might want to first look into the coconut oil info that has been posted before - here's a link:

http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/fifecoconut.htm

Have you considered a natural doctor? Many have found more help that way. Also, have you heard of the natural dessicated thyroid supplements which tend to help boost your energy due to the added components of T3 and other natural components of the thyroid. You can read about that on my home page too.

Hope some of the website helps you find better care.
