Hashimotos Thyroiditis and NAET

I’ve really put off an update to this blog for a while now because my Hashimotos Thyroiditis has not been assessed much differently since I’ve begun my NAET treatments. However, many other wonderful “side effects” have been noted. Although not a direct change in my disease has been noted, I have come to realize that enough changes have happened to record those in this post.

Let me explain. I began NAET treatments about a year ago. My scheduled visits were about 2 per week and I, as recommended by the protocol, started with the basics (Vitamins, Minerals, Amino Acids, etc.). The first few treatments were not very life changing because these are only components to the combinations of foods I eat on a daily basis. In order for me to feel significant changes, I had to begin the whole food treatments like wheat, milk, etc. It was then that I began to see remarkable changes. Here’s a simple explanation of what NAET is:

I kept a journal of all my treatments and any reactions or notable aspects to the treatment that came up. In a later post, I will write these important treatments and notes specifically but for now, I will just say that the response to some of these treatments were incredible! The most notable food treatments to date was the pepper treatment. I used to be severely sensitive to eating black pepper and even worse to jalapenos. I would get a fast heart rate, bloatedness, and frequent trips to the restroom to “let nature take it’s course”. This would be so disruptive to my life if I were to have this reaction while dining at someone’s home or in a restaurant. After the treatment, all those terrible reactions were gone and have been gone for over 9 months! They have never come back! There are other treatments which have been as effective and there are others that have been slow to respond or have only responded partly. Something to realize about NAET that I think others miss is that it can sometime take food combination treatments to clear symptoms after the initial individual treatments. In other words, if you have an allergy to wheat and you expect your reaction to spaghetti to be cleared by that treatment, you may have to have a combination treatment of wheat and tomato sauce in order to clear the spaghetti.

What bothers me the most about NAET criticizers is that “it doesn’t work” but they haven’t even done combination treatments or they haven’t done the amount of treatments their body needs to begin the healing process. They believe that NAET should be some kind of “magic pill” treatment or it “doesn’t work”. First of all, we never ask traditional medicine to cure our ailments - we ask them to “disquise the symptoms” - the root problem still being there and leaving us addicted to the medications given! This is NOT healing. For healing to take place, we need to give our bodies the chance to begin a healing cycle. Allergens and toxins must be eliminated to a great extent for this process to begin. It is not a magic pill and although NAET is amazing and can have significant effect on individual allergies, the whole body must be worked on to experience real, long-term, healing.

This is what I am in the process of attempting. I realize it’s taken 45 years to become sick with this disease and I realize it could take up to a year or two to reverse the damage and begin to heal. This is my journal of the journey.

On another note, it is imperative that we not only find the root cause physically, but also what may have triggered this physical reaction. This brings me to the emotional side of things. I want to extend on this in my next post but I will at least mention here that our emotions can do some pretty significant things to our body - both bad and good - depending on the emotion. I would like to explore energy therapies a bit in the next post. Here is what I believe to be the root problem of most disease - stress and emotional trauma. I am being careful not to blame anyone here, including myself because there have been traumas in my life that I could never have controlled. However, now that I understand some of the ways energy therapies work, I realize I may have been able to deal with these traumas in a way that may have not set up disease in my body. I want to remind you that I am not a doctor - I am a patient. Many believe this is a significant benefit to understanding your particular disease. After all, it is your body, not your doctors, and many times I think doctors forget this “small fact” when working with their patients. :(

May you continue to find answers for your healing.

  1. Dear,
I siffer from hypothyroid and even though on medication i stay very depressed. I have started Naet treatments for thyroid but my doctors are very new with thyroid tratements visa naet.

They didnt put me thru the basics and i only grew worse and my TSH jumped abnormally high and now they realized they didnt do thebasic like amino acids, etc, Can you help me pls by telling me the basics that u were put thru by yur doc for naet ???

    awaiting yur mail.

  2. Hi,

First I think it’s important that you understand that NAET has to be done by someone who has been keeping up with the trainings and has experience with thyroid conditions. If you never went through the basics (you should have received a book showing you what they were), any treatments done without them will likely be ineffective.

Go to the NAET website, http://www.naet.com and see if your doctor is listed as an approved doctor. Make sure his/her credentials show that they have been to current trainings. It sounds like they are not following the basic protocol.

Therefore, it is impossible to blame any high TSH numbers on NAET since the treatments aren’t being done correctly.

Having said all that, there are no guarantees that your numbers will magically normalize by doing a few treatments. Those of us who suffer with thyroid problems, most of the time, have multiple emotional treatments to do. It is common for people with thyroid problems to have events from the past or at least in the recent past, that have caused our system to malfunction. These emotional issues need to be addressed before health can be restored or the disease minimized.

I recommend finding a credentialed NAET doctor who has kept their training current and work on the emotions (after making sure you are through with the basics) with them or use other methods like EFT or BSFF. These treatments are very effective when a person is willing to take responsibility for their own emotional health.

Good luck. I hope you are able to find the help you need. Don’t get discouraged with NAET. It appears it is not the treatment, but the fact that it isn’t being administered properly. However, mine was administered correctly but I’ve had some very traumatic events in my life which need to be fully addressed emotionally. This is where I am currently and I’m not giving up. The key is to do what you feel in your heart to do.

Keep up the fight. It’s worth it!

Thank you for commenting on my blog.

  3. Dear;
Thanks. My doctors are good with the basics but it is the first time they are doing the thyroid treatment really. They keep up to date with their seminars but they didnt really check for particular emotions. Yes, I have had very traumatic incidents as well.

But however can u suggest me a list of the basics that have been done by your doc with the thyroid. I have done lots of basics. nearly the hole of the basic treatment book as i was highl allergic.

  4. Hi,

I did the thyroid “protocol” my doctor got from whatever has been recommended by NAET. I don’t have the list but it seemed like quite a few treatments - somewhere around 20 or so.

Perhaps you can ask your doctor to contact the NAET headquarters and get the thyroid protocol directions from them. However, I am pretty much sure that the emotions need to be addressed along with or even before the physical treatments for the thyroid. Of course, I am not a doctor so you would have to discuss this with them.

I have been privileged now to go straight to the Headquarters of NAET in Buena Park for the last few treatments and honestly, I can tell I am in very experienced hands. I believe I am getting much more effecient care simply because the experience the doctor has will also be a factor in your treatment success. (especially when you are troubleshooting after the basics)

    I hope this helped.

Oh, have you done iodine and your organs? I personally believe NAET is only one of the ways we will find health. I feel real comfortable with EFT as an emotional help that should be considered along side of this. Also, of course, there is diet, sun (vitamin D) and exercise to add to the list.

Take care and keep the hope.

  5. Dear Mo:

I will be extremely grateful if you could writ on my email. I am doing some basics fo thyroid that include tyrosine, vit -d (yet to be done but in list), salt+t3, globulin + thyroid..these r all that have been done so far..I am also doing EFT for a while now. I know my docs r good, but totally new in the area of thyroid. They in fact dunt wanna deal with thyoid anymore after me. I cannot afford going to Buena park for treatments and therefore i must stick with my real nice but new-to- thyroid doctors.

Did only 20 treatmens help yur thyroid? Can u list some u must have done that i can tip off to my doctors to muscle test..pls advise or mail me…wud be grateful for life. thanks

  6. Hello Meghna,

Your e-mail address was undeliverable for some reason so I can only answer from here.

First of all, thank you for your comment.

Before I talk about NAET, I thought I’d pass along a case study on a Hashimoto’s sufferer who seems to have made progress with EFT alone. I am a BIG fan of EFT in that it deals with many roots that NAET normally doesn’t get to (without a very experienced practitioner) since they usually focus on the physical level only - unless you have a really good one that sees the need to work heartily on emotions. Here’s the article:

    http://www.emofree.com/Articles2/hasimoto-thyroiditis.htm

The way I would answer this may not be what you would like to hear. I am learning more every day about this disease and one thing that is standing out is that there are many different triggers to illness and the hard part is that each person has a different “set” of triggers. This makes it very difficult to cookie cut treatment plans. For example, I see you did T3+Salt but I was not tested positive for that combination. I know there is an important treatment for the immune system labeled (on the vials) IMS which I believe is likely an important treatment but the question is always “how far should we go with NAET” when we are unsure of all the factors that got us to where we are now? I am convinced that although there is a place for using NAET (and I still do), I think it is extremely important to deal with all the emotional issues that could have set the disease up to begin with. Then, if that doesn’t improve the disease alone, NAET will be a great help.

I am currently working with my cat allergies. (asthma) I am seeing that emotional triggers for asthma could overlap with those for Hashimoto’s. Not to get too deep, but an autoimmune disease means our body is mistakenly attacking itself - this leads me to believe that we might be dealing with some “trapped” emotion usually effecting an organ or a system in our bodies. I had a great release while doing EFT last night while tapping on guilt in my past. I tend to “punish myself” internally - could this be showing up as illness? I think so. So, this is my current thinking. I believe I am getting closer to the root this way.

I guess your symptoms will tell you where to start. If you are trying to change test results, I would advise against that long term goal and work more on “how you feel” so you can feel better about the longer term goal of seeing the test results change. For a long time I focused on my test results but that is really trying to get to the finish line without taking stock of each step - in other words, I think I was bumbling around without direction. Starting from root issues is a great way to see small changes. Give yourself a small goal and work toward it. (whether diet, exercise or treatment plan for emotions, etc.) It’s hard to do everything at once and really puts too much pressure on you and we need to avoid excessive stress with this disease. I personally think EFT or another similar treatment for emotions is the best place to start. This will make decisions for every other area more obvious as you clear the emotional blockages.

In conclusion, I think NAET is great if you have the finances and persistence to continue with it (trying to get to priorities through muscle testing) but it may seem like there is no end when it comes to treating the autoimmune diseases without dealing with the emotions. If you are suffering with chemical or food sensitivities, NAET is very effective for this. One of the EFT DVD’s also deal with substance sensitivities so this can be a way to clear them without NAET. So far I have trusted NAET more on the physical stuff but I want to work more with EFT in that way too as I can. If you haven’t viewed the EFT material on this, here’s the practitioner that presented that area:

    http://www.allergyantidotes.com/index.html

I hope this has helped a bit. If you don’t have anyone to do EFT with and feel you need that, I am sure it would be well worth the investment to contact a skilled practitioner. Sometimes it helps to find someone with experience to help you get to the real issues faster. The EFT website has a list of some of these people.

    Good luck,

    Mo

  7. Thanks MO:

U r totally correct when it comes to triggers for asthama (i suffer from it too) are teh same as those for thyroid. I have staretd yoga and meditatio and thats been a great help too calming down anxiety and panic attacks during asthama.

I am having a hard time getting down to the core issue with EFT but i know i shallkeep trying till i get down to it. The only thing i was hoping some help from you is if u could give me some treatment lists that you might recollect done with naet for hashimoto since after the TSH treatment my readings ahave shot up and do not know how to bring it down again. Soi think sorting it with naet is the best. Dr devi sent them a list and thats been helpful so far. but then theres lots more.

do u have an email i can write to u on and maybe i can reply back on it. Its diff for me to write things on a public forum.

I dorealize that i have a tendency to feel sorry for myself and thats led to a breakdown in the immune system.
